I love my train and tram trips to and from work each day.
Working from 8 to 4 each day (rather than the more conventional 9 to 5) means I tend to miss the very crowded peak hour ‘sardine’ trains. Which is awesome. There’s nothing worse than a serious invasion of personal space in what can only be described as an over packed sweat box.
The 20 minutes I spend on the train each morning and afternoon is the perfect amount of time to check my emails and quickly catch up with the latest happenings on Twitter. Most days, I even mange to fit in a quick game or two (I’m currently addicted to DoodleJump & Scoops). I know it may sound a little strange, but I really enjoy the ‘me’ time I get on public transport!

Used to like my train trips to a from uni.
But I like my walk to work these days better!
I wish I lived close enough to work to walk! You’re lucky!
Woah, what the heck.
The seat coverings in that photo are EXACTLY THE SAME as the seat covers for many of the busses in my city.
I guess it’s not overly surprising, but it just seems so weird to me that all over the world, people are using this standard tacky seat decor.
Someone must sell it worldwide specifically as cheap/tacky public transport seat coverings.
That said, this one isn’t even the tackiest I’ve seen in Melbourne. There’s a horrible green and yellow one that makes me cringe every time I see it!. ;)
Doodle jump! :D It’s such an addictive game. :D
Tell me about it! I can play it continuously at the moment! :P
That sounds so nice! I have to drive to work everyday it’s about 30-45 mins… It seems so… chic to take a train. Heh.
Oh I also added you on Twitter (OhKristinx). :)
I added you back! :)
I kind of miss commuting because I got to zone out with a book or my iPod (even though I’d have to wake up earlier)… now that I drive to work everyday, I actually have to be awake and concentrated on driving.
I know what you mean about needing to concentrate, esp. if the morning traffic in BC is anything like Melbourne’s! :)
The first time I ever commuted on a train was when I traveled to Melbourne. I have to drive to work, so I can’t really zone out and chill on the train. I’m not even a 5 minute drive though. :P
I wish that I had that kind of schedule. I work the usual 9-5 and it’s a hassle commuting as everyone is trying to get to work and some days it’s excessively crowded.
