I’ve been feeling pretty nostalgic lately. I’ve been thinking about my ‘teenage’ years quite often over the last couple of weeks. I’m guessing it has something to do with missing people like Jess who’s busy pretending to study over in New Zealand, Jemma who lives all the way over in Adelaide and Melanie who’s currently gallivanting around UK/Europe. I think it could also have something to do with the fact its only now just hit me that I’m really 22 and most definitely an adult. I can’t even pretend to be a kid any more.
Anyway, there is a point to the rambling prelude… I’ve put myself together a playlist of music that defines my teenage years and reminds me of some of my most important memories from growing up. I just thought I’d share a couple of them with you. :)
- Ben Folds – There’s Always Someone Cooler Than You.
I might just get up and dance
Or buy some acid-wash pants
When you don’t care then you got nothing to lose
You could say this song was (and still is) my philosophy.
- Counting Crows – Mr. Jones
I will paint my picture
Paint myself in blue and red and black and gray
All of the beautiful colours are very very meaningful
This particular song reminds me of teenage sleepovers and staying up all night.
- Everclear – Wonderful
I just don’t understand how
You can smile with all those tears in your eyes
This is the song that helped me through some of my toughest ‘emo’ teenage issues. This song was so important to me, that when me and a couple of my closest friends buried a box of treasures, my contributions included the lyrics to this song.
- The Postal Service – Such Great Heights
That the freckles in our eyes are mirror images
And when we kiss they’re perfectly aligned
Mine & the boy’s ‘song’.
- Incubus – Warning
Those left standing will make millions
writing books on the way it should have been.
Long nights alone, just me and my computer.
- Machine Gun Fellatio – Unsent Letters
I’m spendin’ all my time driving round fakin clever
With a girl who seems all right and another one who’s better
I don’t know if I lied when I said we’re not together
But I try to talk to you, and some how you seem gone……
This song reminds me of the first boy I ever truely cared about.
- Spoon – The Way We Get By
We go out in stormy weather
We rarely practice discern
We make love to some with sin
We seek out the taciturn
This song just reminds me of learning to drive and lazy summer school days.
- Cat Stevens – Father and Son
Its not time to make a change,
Just sit down, take it slowly.
Youre still young, thats your fault,
Theres so much you have to go through.
This song reminds me of my Dad. Me and my little sister use to listen to it on repeat for hours at a time.

You know… there are just so many reasons I love Fridays.
- Casual clothes at the office.
- Urban Burger for lunch.
- The weekly “Culling of the Post-Its.” This is where I go through the 1984239849238 post-it notes that are drowning my computer monitor and throw out ones that are no longer applicable. It may sound silly, but it’s actually rather therapeutic.
- After work drinks (affectionately known as Beer O’clock).
- Sleep in Saturday morning!
I never thought I’d say this, but I believe Fridays are slowly but slowly overtaking Tuesdays as my favourite day of the week.

I know I should stop spamming you good people of the internet with cat photos. However, I couldn’t resist… Keiko is just so gosh darn cute sometimes!

For today’s entry? Another list! Just a random compilation of things I have swimming around in my head. Thanks to a busy workload lately, I think I’ve forgotten how coherent thought works and have actually started to think in snippets!
- Adam and I have cinema tickets to see Bruno tomorrow night and Harry Potter on Wednesday night!
- I finally joined a gym again!
- My mum’s coming to Melbourne on Thursday! Yay! I miss my family. It sucks living a 6 hour drive away.
- I read Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris on Saturday night. It’s the first book of the Southern Vampire Mysteries (which is what True Blood the TV series is based on). It was a brilliant book and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I think I’m also going to have to watch True Blood.
- I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet just how impressed I’ve been with the iPhone OS 3.0. I LOVE being able to copy & paste as well as picture message! It’s been almost a year and I’m still in love with my iPhone. This is a really big deal for me considering before the iPhone I was changing phones every couple of months.
- I really must ring old real estate agent and figure out why we haven’t got the form to re-claim our bond back yet!
- I really need to organise my profit & loss statements so I can get my tax done! A decent tax return would be mighty fine right about now.
- One of my next projects will be a layout for this site. As lovely as this theme is… it’s really starting to annoy me that it’s not mine. I think I miss having a sidebar!

D eats the weirdest things. He really does. After a year of living with him, I’ve managed to come to terms with the fact he eats mayonnaise & pineapple on his pizzas and has been known to mix mayonnaise in with left over pasta.
Last night though, he exceeded all my weird eating expectations….
I wandered into the kitchen to find him eating a bowl of spaghetti & meatballs, mixed with leftover chicken wings and topped off with tartare sauce. Icccccccccccccky! I cannot imagine that actually tasting any good!
Question of the week (yes, I’m totally stealing Amanda’s QOTW idea): Is there anything you love to eat that other people find particularly gross?
