This week has been ridiculously hectic with work and moving. I’m absolutely wrecked. Hence I’m being lazy and am not writing up a proper entry. I’m giving you a list. :)
- Condensing 2 households’ worth of things into 1 workable household is not as easy as it sounds. It could very easily be classed as painful. Two fridges, two washing machines, two giant TVs, two couches, two cats, 6 beds, 7 computers… you get the picture. We now have soooooooo much ‘stuff.’
- I fail at timing. Our home phone won’t be connected until sometime tomorrow (hopefully) & goodness knows how long it’ll take with the internet company. I’m glad I have a wireless USB stick… without it, I’d be going crazy. I really am an internet addict.
- D has an absolutely lovely view of someone’s bedroom from his window. This particular someone is an old man who likes to get changed in front of his open window.
- My cat totally owned K’s cat in the house domination stakes. Chewbacca embodies the very definition of psycho. Keiko is rather shy. It’ll be interesting to see how they get along over the next few days. Both of them have never met any other cats before…
- So happy I can finally eat proper meals again, a week of eating crap for lunch and dinner because the kitchen was in disarray is now taking its toll. I’m paying for it in the form of a weakened immune system and the world’s most annoying cold.
- I really really hate cleaning.
- The next time I move, it’ll be to England.
I was typing up an entry a few moments ago, and I realised there were people I was mentioning you’d have NO IDEA about whatsoever considering I’ve been ‘blogging’ so sporadically these days. Hence, I made a new page. Located here, it’s a list of people featuring in the soapbox saga that is my life. Ya’know. To avoid confusion. :)
We sign our lease for our new place tomororw. Me, the boy, our current flatmate, the boys sister, the boys sisters boyfriend and two cats are all moving into a rather large townhouse. This is an attempt to save money on the ridiculous amounts of rent we’re all paying at the moment. That and our current landlord wants to move into our current house as soon as possible and are happy for us to break the lease without any sort of financial penalty.
On one hand, I really, really hate moving house. It’s such a pain to sort through all the stuff in the house and put everything neatly into boxes. On the other hand? I finally have the chance to sort through all the stuff in our house and throw out all the junk we’ve collected over the last four years. I may even sell a few bits and pieces we no longer need.
Last time we moved (about 10 months ago) it was a rush-job. Everything was literally thrown into boxes and regurgitated at the new house. We moved in a day. Well, actually. I lie, I didn’t really do a thing. The boys (boyfriend + flatmate) did. I went to work from one house, and came home that same evening to another.
We don’t have to give the keys back for our current place until the 30th of June. Meaning we have two full weeks to cull, pack & clean. There’s stuff floating around here we really no longer have any need for. Pefect example? I just found my biological disecting kit from back when I was a science/arts student at Melbourne Uni (almost 3 years ago). I don’t plan on chopping up any more rats any time soon…
eBay here I come. Wish me luck.
I’ve been keeping a weblog in some way, shape or form since mid-2001. Yes, the internet has consumed and chronicled the last 8 years of my life and honestly, and as I’ve said so many times before, I wouldn’t have it any other way. My weblog is a part of who I am. I have recorded so many of my most important memories. I love being able to look back and see exactly how everything I’ve done has shaped the person I’ve become today. After not posting anything for a month or two, I’ve really come to miss having somewhere to house my random thoughts.
However, with more and more people reading my site, I’ve decided to become a little more conscious of what I’m posting on publically on the internet. Some future personal entries may require you to be logged into my website as a registered user (which I haven’t set up yet, but will do so very soon). I’ve also ‘retired’ my archive and have started again with a nice and clean WordPress installation. That said, I don’t think you’ll find the ‘new’ nadinerine.com all that different to what you’re used to. After all, it’s still just a place for me to post my musings. :)
P.S: The design overhaul is still in the works. I have ideas, I’m just struggling to find the time for implementation. I’ll keep you posted. For now, I’m using a slighly modified version of Derek Powazek’s Depo Skinny. One day, sometime in the next few months, this place will look super shiny again and nadinerine-like again. I promise!
